Savage takes real bullets, not just them [bleep] flatpoints like the marlin and Winny. I love my Savage 99 and it's a lot smoother than the Winchesters.

Not all Winchesters were limited to flat-point bullets. The 95 was designed to be used with the big rifle calibers using pointed bullets. Mine is chambered in .30-06.

And as for "real" cartridges...I'd say that my Grandfather's .45-90 Marlin (Don't know the model, my uncle has it) would beg to differ...
