Although I've never killed a deer with a .30-30, I now own two of them.

I did, however, kill my first deer, a spike muley, back in 1965 with a .32 Special that I borrowed from one of my college roommates.

When I got out of the Army in the early 70's I decided I needed a .30-30 so I bought a "Canadian Centennial" Model 94 Winchester. I also had a .30-06 back then and it was my first choice for all my deer and elk hunting. That Canadian Centennial has basically sat in my safe for 40 years.

Then last year I decided I needed a field going .30-30. After a few weeks of watching Gunbroker, and I now have a good field going Model 94. The problem now is that Laser Eye Surgery I had a couple of years ago gave me 20/15 far vision, but the sights of my "new" Model 94 are a blur.
