Yes with a brake it should kick about like a 8 1/2 lb 300 Mag or less, definitely puddy cat territory ... Whenever I think my unbraked XCR II in 375 Weatherby recoil is a little sharp, I just put 5 rounds down range with the 500 Jeffery, and all of a sudden it feels kinda mild lol ...
