... I think this too will pass...
Indy, I vividly remember as a kid hearing my grandfather say exactly this same thing to my father. That was Cuba 1960. History tells us that despite the many sacrifices made in opposing that regime, it didn't "pass."
I'm afraid our current situation won't "pass" either if we "just hope" that it will. A charismatic socialist demagogue promising the most naive and ill-informed voters - idealistic college students - "hope and change" while preaching and promoting class hatred, is a powerful and destructive force in any society. We are now experiencing the result. This change and this regime are not like other political events in our past.
I too fear for my children and grandchildren.
A valid concern, for as you might see from my reference above, history is prologue. Hopefully our concern for our children and grandchildren will translate into greater participation in the electoral process in our future elections by those of us who believe that our founding principles are still our best basis for enduring Liberty.
IMHO rather than just cursing the darkness in despair, our history has taught us that resolutely organizing locally to politically oppose to these unconstitutional changes to our democracy is the most effective path. Let's provide the world with a shining example of our Exceptionalism
once again. We still remain the last, best hope for freedom.
