Back in wildlife biology classes, they told us that when predators lose their fear of us, we become food. That's why when the Californians stopped hunting mountain lions, they started eating people out for a walk in the woods. Jane Goodall could sit with a troop of mountain gorillas and study them because as far as they are concerned, we aren't food but merely curiously hairless apes ourselves. Bears have made a living eating us for centuries back to Thag in the cave. For someone to intentionally expose themselves to bears in hopes of being accepted by them is inviting himself to dinner.
