One thing for sure, moose are much bigger in the northern part of the province. Kootenay moose are Shiras.
I'd look within a few hundred miles of the Yukon border if a big one was on my list. Coming from the states I would also look into the Yukon and the western side of the North West Territories if I wanted a really big one. I suspect they will not come cheap though.
