I looked hard before making the jump to a 2014 Ecoboost. I guessed it would do a couple mpg better than my 2004 with 5.4L, and that's pretty much what it gets - while still having a lot more power. I've seen as much as 19 mpg on a trip from Houston to Dallas, and that was running 75-80 much of the way. On rare occasions I've driven it around 65 for extended periods on the highway, and it was showing over 20 mpg. Headwinds, and speed make a huge difference in highway fuel economy.

The EB has a pile of low end torque, and pulls very hard. I also think people tend to enjoy the low end torque more than they admit. smile

Mine is a supercrew, 5½' bed 4x4, 3.73 gears. 3.55's would be a better all-around choice for me, but it will pull like a train as it is. smile
