Sure. When it comes to just any 18 year old with no service experience owning AR's vs someone serving who has been trained with an AR owning one, I would be fine with the kid in the military being able to buy one before a kid under 21 could.

General Gage thought EXACTLY the same thing about the colonists. Why would a bunch of farmers need cannons and militia supplies? It's for the good of the people to take their artillery and firearms away because they haven't been trained by the King's Army.
