I have a couple of fairly cheap ones. They work just fine for me. I have run a few short sections of rapids and they have held up so far. Mostly I use mine for exercise and just to get out. Fished out of it a couple of weeks ago on a small lake. Caught 6 trout in 45 minutes. Certainly not ideal for fishing.
For those that prefer canoes, they have their place but a canoe is really best for 2 guys. A kayak is better solo.
