I once had a Marlin 1894 in 44-Special/44-mag. I loved that carbine. A buddy of mine has an older brother with a 1894 in 38/357-mag and its a hoot to shoot. Thirty-eight specials are like shooting pellets but I was impressed at how well 125-grain 357s stepped out there. This probably will get me some flack on a Savage forum, but try one - I'm sure you will like it too.
