I know a guy down state who hunts deer with a rifle in 357 Mag. He has killed deer with it to include one really big buck. His property limits him to about 30-40 yards max distance for shooting. I killed 2 deer with a .44 Mag pistol. Looks like I need to try out the .357 Mag now.
I've had 3 different .357 carbines over the years and have taken several deer with each. They kill just fine well beyond bow range. 125 yards is easy. You can get nearly 2000 fps out of a 158 grain bullet with a max load of Hodgdon Lil Gun.
