Regarding the trigger, I would go with Brimstone. They are a little pricey, but your kids will have these guns for 60 years or more. Sounds like you guys are having fun no matter what your decision is.

We'd prefer something a little heavier than stock. We shoot a lot of SC and I got my GM card last summer with a 15-22. The light barrels are easier to stop but they also don't settle quite as well. Trying to find somethings just a little beefier.
