I’ve been very happy with my laminated stock, stainless Mountain Rifle in 30/06 and have shot all my elk with it. Lots of folks say the laminated stock is too heavy but on the MR’s they are worked down to a pretty slender profile, much lighter that the run of the mill Remington laminated stock. IIRC mine goes about 7 3/4 lbs with a 3.5-10X Leupold installed, loaded and with an old Remington sling. If you like the way it feels go for it.
