Nice to hear so many folks shooting and enjoying the .250. I`ve two AI`s, but my original is a mod.20. I`ve had it cense I was 13. I`m now 76, can`t even do the math as to how long that is!
Lots and lots of loads. I`d shot mostly light bullets out of it for both deer and chucks when it had the original 14 twist barrel, fact used 60 grners by both W-W HP and Speer 60 grn. spitzers. Both bullets vaperized any chuck or crow hit within 150 yrds. My 64 Lyman load book suggest a max load of 41 grns 4895 for 3600 fps. I`m sure I used this, as I pushed the 250 hard. My Dad had mounted a Weaver 3/4 inch K 2.5 post and cross hair on. He said I would have trouble shooting at such small stuff with that scope at any distance over 100 yrds. He was right..I eventually went to a newer variable 3x9 scope and a 10 twist Douglas barrel, which it still wears, and realized a lot more flexibility out of the cartridge.
Newer loads would include the 80 grn. TTSX using 39 grns of 4320, and I really like the 100 grn Nosler partition with 37.5 4320, at 3165 and 2940 fps out of my 22 inch barrel. Both shoot very very well.
