When I was a kid, the roads up by our camp in Central Pa. were very rough, and Dad always had a Jeep for hunting up there. The first "batch" he had were three military surplus jeeps he bougth cheap with the thought being to make one good one out of the bunch. If memor serves me right, one was a litter carrier, one had a machine gun mount in the back, and the other was just a typical military jeep. After lots of work, they did piece one together out of the three. No heat, a canvas top, four miss matched tires, but it did it's job for many years. After that we had a CJ2A and two CJ5's. Good machines, back in the day. Today, my every day driver (Ford Explorer) is my hunting vehicle, and I've finally convinced my wife to get something with 4 WD due to our winter roads up here. We're looking at Suburbans and Expeditions.
