So has the action been bedded? I'd also try a box of Fed Premium 130 SGK to see how it shoots those. Nice looking rifle!
The recoil lug is bedded and the barrel floated from the factory. The newer 70s are all done that way, and not with that soft hot glue stuff that New Haven used for awhile. I did have a featherweight 06 that was giving me fits pillar bedded and the crown recut. Also had Williams steel bottom metal fitted at the same time.
I've never taken a big game animal with a factory round, ever. Midway was selling 130gr SGKs for 21 bucks per 100 with free shipping a few months ago. I bought enough to last me quite a long time.
