Thanks for the you explanation. I was wondering if you'd actually seen signs of high pressure with that load--and if do what they were. Mostly was wondering if it was "flattened" primers--which are NOT a good pressure indicator--or velocity considerably higher than seen in manuals.

But I have handloaded for at least a dozen .270's since Hodgdon Extreme H4831 appeared 20-some years ago, and have yet to see ANY such sign of high pressure with 60.0 and ANY 130-grain bullet--including "excessive" velocity. The rifles have included not just bolt-actions but a Remington 760. Have used up to the 62.0 grains (the Hornady max) in a number of bolt (and one single-shot) rifle without the slightest problem.
