Wife was a set-up date from a squadron mate and his girlfriend. The girlfriend was a bit of a snooty San Francisco sort and her comment was “ Pugs is a good guy but he does wear a lot of flannel”

My potential wife thought was “I’m from New England. Who doesn’t?”

We dated for 8 months and got married in a small event at the chapel at the naval war college chapel in Newport Rhode Island as I was getting off active duty and went skiing in France or the honeymoon. A nice thing about getting married in your mid thirties is you’re a real person and understand that it’s going to be a journey. The downside we found is kids are really hard to have so we don’t have any.

It’s been 22 years and wouldn’t change a thing.
