I shoot 12 ga Remington #5’s exclusively. They market them as Pheasant Loads now. I buy them a case at a time.

After hunting with all available gauges I discovered that it took the shot charge of a 12 ga to penetrate the Fall foliage in the East Texas pines. Many of those are 80' tall.


Winchester makes a what I suppose is a similar load and called a pheasant load. 1 1/4 oz shot at 1220fps mv. Exactly matches my old handload for squirrels, ducks, when lead was still legal, and as a general all around load when woods roaming. A little heavy on doves but I have used them for that.
