Hornady 165gr sst in my 30-06 is my go to. Big holes and good blood trails. I tend to rib shoot so I’m not concerned with meat loss. They do make a mess of shoulders tho.
Sierra gamekings or prohunters in my 25-06. No issues from 10-400 yards and I run them fast.
My dad and brother like the plain Jane hornady interlocks.
My bad experiences were early ballistic tips in 30-06 and factory 35 Remington 150gr corlockt. That was about 20 years ago and haven’t tried them since
