I have a Dakota Classic Deluxe with gorgeous wood in 25-06 that I use for Antelope and Deer hunting mostly. Once in a while I use my 280 Rem. for these animals.

Years ago, I ran across an ad for a Ruger Express in 25-06. Thought it was a typo and meant to be 30-06. Nope, it was 25-06 alright. They were never listed in this caliber for the Express. My research so far points to only (6) of these rifles ever made. I bought (3) of them from the ad, and my wife bought one. The guy who found them in the back of a Ruger warehouse bought all six, kept one for him and one for his son to hunt with. Sold the other four to me and my wife.

I use my Dakota and one of these Ruger Expresses every year to hunt Antelope. In the past 25 years, my wife and I have taken about 125 Antelope with these rifles. The 25-06 is a fabulous Pronghorn caliber, kills Deer right now, and although I have never taken this round Elk hunting, I have two petite lady friends that hunt Elk every year with their 25-06s.

I am very big on the 25-06 for Deer/Antelope.
