Second house in the Sierra at rock bottom price in 2009. Decided against it to shove more money into kids college funds and 401k/ira. Made out better than what the house and land appreciated currently. Not to mention the extra property taxes, maintenance, etc.. But missed out on all the great times we could have had up there. Meh kids got edumacated and our nest egg is better off.
