I can shoot a .22 LR rifle all day long with no ear plugs. I don't and never have owned a .17 HMR, and have no plans to simply due to them being MUCH louder and me wanting ear plugs whenever I shoot one, rifle or pistol.

I also just bought a .22 LR Single Six from a guy here on the 'Fire as a trap gun. Mind you it has the mag cylinder, but with regular .22 LR and especially in snow I don't need earplugs to be comfortable shooting it. Some .22 LR pistols are LOUD, but that Single Six isn't. The Single Six .17 is as bad as anything else.

I am .22 LR fan, for that reason alone.
