A friend of mine was asking for recommendations for a gun. I told him that a lot depended on what was available right now, because much isn't. I told him he could do a lot worse than a Marlin 795, which I also have. The main thing a 10-22 has on it is availability of accessories and parts. Other than clones of the 10-22, the 795 is probably the second-best as far as accessories go. Before the craziness hit, the 795 was probably close to only being half price of a 10-22. A Marlin model 60 is never a bad choice either.
