The original mountain rifles they used in
Across the wide Missouri with Clark Gable.
Supposedly, they were real fur trade era guns.
At least they weren't the dolled up trap doors
made up as " kantuckee long rifles " like a lot
of the movie makers were using
Maria Elena was pretty strac too. . .
Good movie! You are correct about the rifles. Always like the one-legged guy gettin’ an arrow in his leg and then throwing his crutch! 🤣🤣🤣.
I was in a production where they brought in a butt-load of those Cecil B DeMille trapdoors. They had LOTS of miles on them. They put us with good guns up front in the assault for camera. There was this kid standing behind me. Maybe 20-25 yo. They had him one of those trapdoors and one blank and go to next guy. He looks around like a lost pup and says "can anyone show me how to work this thing??"
Oh Lawd!
