This is another interpretation of the Supremacy Clause:
A federal law applies to the nation as a whole and to all 50 states whereas state laws are only in effect within that particular state. If a state law gives people more rights than a federal law, the state law is legally supposed to prevail.
By that standard, states would have the right to secede.
They do and always have. If not, we are not a free people, but property of an all powerful dictatorship. That is why we have free elections.....er, wait a minute. Might need to rethink this.
