My Ruger Standard 22 pistol purchased in 1969 for my new bride still points and hits better for me than any other handgun.

The old Mannlicher-Schoenauer rifles had always looked cumbersome to me in photos and laying on tables at gun shows. The forward placed bolt handle appeared impossible to cycle smoothly. Then, at an estate sale, I actually picked one up. It felt like an extension of my arms and pointed so naturally that I immediately had to buy it. The typical pre WWII high scope mount doesn't even bother me. It is a 1903 stutzen with a Hensoldt 4X scope:
