I am doing some crude calculations and obviously there are variables involved but here's what I come up with for price per pound of actual packaged beef.
1400lb steer and butcher combined price around $2k?
And what you get 500lbs of meat?
$4/lb straight across for what goes in the freezer. Maybe $5?

Neighbor thought he was about $600 for butcher fee, I figure $1/lb for the critter but that is probably low.
Ours end up with all costs to be about $5.50 a pound for the meat in your freezer. That’s across all cuts not a bad price and hard to eat store bought beef if you get a good finished steer
