As I am going through this list, the manufactures I wouldn't waste my time on is a much shorter list than who I would buy. I said Savage Impulse because AFAIK they are the only American made straight pulls and I do not yet own a straight pull.
Of the rifles I would not bother with is really down to late model (not the very new ones) Remington 700's. The ones produced just before the bankruptcy. Post bankruptcy shows a lot of promise to going back to the quality that made the 700 the icon it once was. And for the record, If someone gave me a late model 700 I would swap out the trigger; bolt body; stock; and swap out the barrel for a Remage setup and maybe get it blue printed. Basically, strip it down and restart. I mean why waste a good giveaway.
