Extra military/police presence is needed because scenes from January 6th did tremendous damage to the United States. One wonders how can someone lead the free world if they can not get their own house together. Those scenes involving halloween clad people can never be repeated.
The tremendous damage to the United States was done when the cheating and fraud in the election was allowed to happen and stand which put biden in the White House. Not the events from Jan 6.
