In the 80's my dealer/ GF's dad talked me into an AMT AutoMag in 22 mag. It is the loudest thing I've ever shot, when it would cycle. I should take it out for old time sake! Like the OP I bought a M70 Coyote but in 223. Shot terrible so I sent it back, they returned it saying it shot within spec. 2.5-3" groups is in spec! Yikes. I was a diehard Winchester guy till then.
