In my youth I thought bigger had to be better. I decided I needed a 300 RUM for deer hunting. I bought a Remington PSS. It was so heavy that even a 20 year old me had a hard time carrying it a 1/2 mile. So I decided to double up on dumb and took a loss on it to trade for a BDL LSS 300 RUM. Much easier to carry but it kicked so hard that the knurling on the bolt ripped the skin off my trigger finger. It’s still in the back of the safe and hasn’t been shot for 15 years.

Also, a Taurus Judge. I thought it’d be neat to carry while fishing until I pulled the trigger for the first time. My ears rang for an hour. That was dumb.
