I will just point out that I never made fun of anyone using the optics they can afford or whatever they choose. In this instance, I thought the fable the OP concocted was funny. I thought it was even funnier that some people believed it to be true. You are bringing this to a whole new level of hilarity.
I have an old style Tasco. It's 40 years old at least. I don't use it anymore but I will not get rid of it.
