I also shoot a 1 in 8 .260 and agree on bullet selection

But...
My 25-06 shoots rings around my .260 with several loads. The worst grouping loads in my 25-06 are adequate for any hunting I may do, and the best loads are regularly 1/2" capable.

If my .260 shot like my 25-06, I'd prefer it for a lot of uses. As for now it's my bad weather rifle

Edit; Wish I had sent the .260 to Redneck like I did the Model 70 he made into a 25-06 for me.
