Lexington BBQ is the place to go for that style BBQ. Personally I prefer eastern NC vinegar based Q and I live in the heart of Lexington style BBQ area. For a chain restaurant Smithfield’s is pretty good. The boys down east can point you in the right direction east of Raleigh.
