Considering the cash and/or you get back from some cards, it may or may not make sense to use a card with a fee. There are many no fee cards that have decent rewards.
The idea of actually carrying a balance is my hard stop.
I've gone out of my way to put large purchases on the CC, then taking in the cash back while paying off the balance before paying any interest.
