You folks still have rabbits there?

Ours, both kinds, have disappeared, nearly entirely. Thought I almost hit one on the road back from town the other night. None around the yard anymore, last one I saw was this summer.

Odd, the F&G folks sent an email out a few months back asking if anyone has seen/found sick or dead rabbits while out and about. Especially ones not obviously predator or human killed/wounded.

I'm guessing the RHDV has arrived. Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus. Can't think of anything else that would wipe them out like this.

Same situation in Southern Nevada. Last year I had a bunch in the yard, this year I've only seen a few in the neighborhood none on my back yard rabbit smorgasbord. I thought it might be that 7 year cycle thing but their was no downward glide path, more like flipping a switch; boom. no more bunnies.

Ours seemed to decline starting in 2017-18, we had really good numbers of both kinds here in the yard, living under the woodpile and such, when we moved in 5 years ago.

Seemed like I started to see a little rebound last summer/fall and was of the opinion it was the 7 year cycle deal too. Then, this summer, a few in the yard and now nothing. And we rarely see one on the road, even dead ones, of which there seemed to be at least one new one on the way to town every day..

Not sure now it will ever recover.
