"Double-wides" and most modular homes are not, in most cases, a better long term real estate investment than stick built or log homes.
But, some stick built and log homes are poorly constructed and are weak investments.
Some large tracts of land are not strong investments either. Many overpay to purchase, and many get over-taxed.
Some small building lots are stupid in asking price.
Many tracts are inherited, and the equity used to put a person into debt long term.

All to say, anything can be a poor reflection of a person's long-term investment knowledge. Or it can be good. Case by case, market to market, location matters greatly.
