That was true once, but after the 7 full overtime fiasco between LSU and Texas A&M in 2018, they have revised the rules.

2 full possession OT periods.
In the second OT period all touchdowns must be followed by a 2 point conversion attempt.
In the third and subsequent OT periods the teams run just one 2 point conversion attempt per possession.

With all these 2 point attempts, it's now much harder for teams to match each other and games are decided quickly.

That may be, but considering that the last 7 overtimes consisted of 2 plays each it went a lot faster than it would have with full overtimes.


A simple fix would be a possession for both teams and then revert to the current rule.
