For almost 20 years used 100gr Hornady Spire Point, pre-Interlock on nearly 30 head of deer. Shot from 75 to 300+ yards. All DRT. Recovered one bullet, on a 100yd facing shot. Found a perfect mushroom against the pelvis. Replaced that M700 25-06 with a handier BLR 257 Roberts running a 100gr at 3000fps.
Pre-interlock? Must be some oldies. The 100gr Hornady IL shoots well in my 257R at a little over 3000fps. Do you generally shoot shoulders or heart/lungs. Where I hunt the deer are almost always just a step or two from thick thorny brush so I usually take high shoulder shots and have been wondering if the 100gr IL is up to the task. Thanks
