I've had just one successful hunt with my 7mm-08 rifle, but I'm already inclined to agree with you.

The only downside I see to 7mm-08 versus 308 WIN is the 308 WIN ammo is $22 and is available everywhere. 7mm-08 ammo is $42 and nobody has it. I've got a lifetime supply of reloading components, so I'm not too worried.

I'm also not going to divest myself of 308 WIN and replace it with 7mm-08. There is not enough difference for the deer to notice.
