Or it could be post op ileus since his guts were moved around and his spinal nerves were irritated at surgery. It’s common, and it sounds like it’s getting better. Concern about opioids is not unwarranted but they have their place.

I'm thinking it's a combination of both. An ileus can be terribly painful, especially with the bloat post op, when everything hurts to begin with and at best.
