Update - getting his WBC down to 40k has been helpful.

GF and her ex are there now, on base. The AF and base senior personnel have been great. E7 as a driver/escort for everything but Ex has international driving permit so they'll use the boy's car.

M4 AML Leukemia. Italian docs want him there a month and into his treatment before moving to Walter Reed. US/AF base doc wants to move him in 2 weeks if possible - 4 day window where the treatment pauses.

Ride home is a Gulfstream - direct to Walter Reed. Medical team, the boy and mom/dad. So I don't really buy the "we can't pause treatment" bit given a Gulfstream should cover that direct damned fast.

Huge shout out to Wounded Warrior project - they've been amazing. Got mom/dad over there, picking up tab for hotel, food and all travel I guess. So, if you're so inclined to ever have a chance to help them - they're certainly helping us.
