I used factory Core-Lokt ammo as my go to prior to handloading. IT may not have been the most accurate but it always fired. I'm with JamesJr on his thoughts. Have you verified that there is no oil that's set up on the firing pin from years of sitting? I've noticed that CLP will thicken over the years and the old guys used WD-40 to clean. That's another story.
