The laws you grew up with become the norms. I grew up in England where even an air rifle was a strange and exotic thing. Never questioned why firearms were largely nonexistent, didn’t conceive of a right to own guns. Teens through college in NY State, bought rifles shotgun as a teenager, don't recall wanting a handgun, most people didn’t have them, I didn’t question that.

So I get that part.
