Wow, 3110 fps from a 284 using a 162 gr bullet. I have a 284, it's a Savage Model model 11f, it was a 7mm-08, I had it rechambered to 284. The only issue I have is that it has a long throat, probably caused by the reamer when it was rechambered, I can only go to 3.005 oal due to magazine restrictions, with that oal I am still .125 off the lands. I have three boxes of barnes 140 gr xlc bullets on hand, my top speed with those bullets is 2900 fps with 56 gr of IMR 4831, I should top 3200 with RL 17, now I just have to find some , not one sporting goods store in the Reno area has any in stock.
