I was thinking the same, in fact a FS with just a front sight and Lyman or Redfield steel receiver sight looks the "rightest" to me. If a scope goes on, it needs to be a small straight tube.

U nailed it!!
That's how my Step Dad's full stock rifles of yesteryear were set up; front and rear(Redfield Peep) iron sights, with Lyman Alaskan scopes.
