I haven't owned a 94 in a few years, and never owned a Marlin 336 (not that I don't consider them to excellent guns). I do rely on a lever gun for most of my deer hunting- a Savage 1899H carbine in either .22 HiPower, .303, or .30/30, tang sights only. Hard decisions for caliber choice when setting out in the morning as they are all favorites. The bolt guns left behind in the rack cry out to be used but the light handy lever guns have become my favorite companions when mooching around in the woods.
