I killed my first 6 elk with 130 gr partitions in .270 in the 1970's. Then I bought a light weight .338 Win mag because I got a good deal. I have killed a lot of elk with it but the .270 did just as good. In fact I got a really good deal on a weatherby ultra light weight .270. It will probably be my rifle of choice now with 140 grain accubonds.
