Don't know if you're a beer drinker, but if so, you owe to yourself to check out Ballast Point Brewery. Best IPA....IN THE WORLD!
They have several locations.

Ballast Point Sculpin - yummm. Though for SD area IPAs, I really have to give the crown to Alpine's "Hoppiness" brews - both "Pure" and "Exponential". Take the drive and get ye to the brewpub itself, should you have the chance. Otherwise, just head on over to O'Brien's. Then there's Green Flash's West Coast IPA, Stone's offerings etc...
IMNSHO, there is more top notch craft beer being brewed in just SD county than is being brewed in a bunch of states.
